7/6/17 CLUB ACTIVITY UPDATE
Dear parents and club members,
This letter is an update on the clubs activities at present.
The committee feels that the addition of Matt Alison to the coaching team is a positive step for everyone and so the next agreement with Cleethorpes & District Swimming (CADS) is being worked on.
This agreement will be supported by Steve Vaughan as the Scunthorpe Anchor Coaching Lead. Steve has been accepted onto a Level 2 coaching course that will supplement the coaching strategy set by Matt. This means that by 9th December, we will have two Level 2 coaches at Scunthorpe Anchor. Steve will be your first point of call for all Scunthorpe team and coaching issues. Please feel free to approach Matt if Steve is not poolside.
If you have a sleeping desire to assist at any poolside training session or event, please contact Steve Vaughan. We greatly appreciate all our volunteer support.
We have already tested the combined team selection; CADS and SAASC have supplemented their teams with swimmers from both clubs. This has benefited every team and has resulted in us winning the first round in all three leagues (Lincs Junior League, Lincs Senior League and Barnsley Minor League).
As this first taste of success shows how competitive we are together, there are plans being put in place to create a new Performance team name for CADS and Scunthorpe to swim under! This will make our future medal tally even bigger!
For example, at the recent regional competition at Sunderland:
Scunthorpe: 3 gold 1 silver
CADS: 4 gold 4 silver 1 bronze
Together: 7 gold 5 silver 1 bronze
Our Club Sprints competition will take place at Riddings on Saturday 24th June. We will require plenty of assistance as usual and Claire Allen will be asking for volunteers. We can celebrate all our fantastic achievements at the Sprints Presentation Evening on Saturday 24th June at the Wortley House Hotel. Tickets are on sale now and details about tickets are on Facebook and Team App.
The Remembrance Meet
The select committee is working away to get this organised so that it runs like a dream again for us this year. Please keep Sunday 12th November free!
The dates are set and on Team App. Keep an eye on Team App for further details as they are announced.
Please, please, please… if you have the energy and ideas to raise some money for our club, get in touch with Sam Hazelden to help you get this off the ground with the committee.
Paul Burnett is our social media officer. Please get on the Website, Facebook, Twitter and Team App accounts to help spread the club news and find out when and where things are happening.
As recently as May 2017, we had two swimmers who qualified for the British Champs and ASA Summer Champs. Who needs to swim for the big clubs when we can achieve our goals in our home town?!
I hope this paints a pleasant picture of how your club is progressing through the season.
Thanks for your time.

25/07/16 - CLUB CAPTAINS
As from 1st August the club welcome Lauren Jacklin & Max Walker as the new Scunthorpe Anchor club captains for 2016/2017. We look forward to having them actively involved for the next season.
The club would like to thank the outgoing captains, Lauren Gwynne & Edward Kenny and vice captains, Ellie Sanderson & Ben Cantrill for their efforts and contributions. Lauren & Edward have recently announced that they will no longer be swimming for the club as they move on to other commitments, we wish them both well for the future.
